About Òran na Mara

Òran na Mara (Song of the Sea) is situated in one of the world's most stunning locations - the west coast of the Isle of Harris.

The islands have been voted number 1 in Europe and number 5 in the world by Trip Advisor and the beaches regularly appear in lists of the best in the world.

This wonderful luxurious house is the result of many years of planning, research and design.  Overlooking white sand beaches, hills, islands, sunsets and the ever-changing turquoise Atlantic Ocean, Òran na Mara takes maximum advantage of the incredible views by being curved with floor to ceiling glass windows in the main living area.

The house is planned as a contemporary space, equipped with luxury facilities, but with traditional local features such as marram grass thatch and stone walling. It is insulated to the highest standards and has a peat and wood fired stove in the snug area which divides the dining and living areas. Even the TV has a lift so that it doesn't interrupt the views across the house and can be secreted away when not in use.

The house will always be let on an exclusive basis and at quieter times of the year it is possible to be rented at a discount for use by a couple only.

Òran na Mara is an iconic building in a truly stunning location, and with a very high specification and level of design both externally and internally. It has nearly 200 square metres of interior space with a carefully planned layout to provide a flowing space and high domed ceilings. The house floods with light in the daytime, with outstanding views in all directions across the beach, the sea and beyond to the north Harris hills, but is cosy and warm at night.

• The Boat Bathroom - Beautifully designed and special space with a feature bath in the shape of a boat moored on the pebbles. Even the shower screen forms a sail and the mooring rope a towel rail. The tiling incorporates real shells from Scarista beach. Also with toilet and wash hand basin
• The Study - A vast oak slab as a desk with USB adapter, printer, Smart TV and Blu-ray DVD player. Sonos surround sound system as with all rooms. This room forms a suite with the Shoreline Room.
